About
welcome to TeenBuddha.
I began this blog as a means of sharing, and creating an open discussion about the issues and the difficulties so many of us face. By offering the tools I’ve learned from buddhist teachings and lessons- I hope to connect with other young adults facing life. Posts are weekly. Please feel free to email any subject suggestions or questions.

This is sweet. I love the idea behind the blog.
I discovered your blog while searching the topic Buddhism and teenagers for my 14 year old son. How were you introduced to Buddhism? Is this something that you do with your family?
Dear Stephen,
I have read many books on Buddhism and attended a Vipassana mediation last year. I found Buddhism while going through anxiety and depression two years ago. My father is also a practicing Buddhist, and he has shared a great deal with me.

It would be great if there were Buddhist/meditation centers that catered to families with young children. I’m located in NYC and I don’t know of a single one. (What part of the country are you located in?) Perhaps Buddhism/Buddhist thought is simply not accessible enough to young minds, or so it would seem. You, on the other hand, appear to be a profound exception to the rule.
Hello Stephen, this is Rowan’s father Kevin. I don’t think Buddhism is beyond your average teenager. You might look for a Shamballa meditation group or center in your area. They are well established almost everywhere and more than any Buddhist group I know in the States make Buddhist thought and practice acessible within American culture. They also seem to draw greater numbers of young people and families than most other Tibetan Buddhist centers. Feel free to email for a more detailed discussion of possible resources. Also perhaps Rowan can recommend some books for your son , if he’s interested.
